Berjheny Del Mar was born on the coast of Venezuela and raised on the island of Aruba. She grew up with the ocean as her backyard and spent her childhood relishing the bliss of salty waters, constantly surrounded by glamorous, strong and feminine women that were an inspiration of style and elegance. Her Grandmother was a couturier and influenced her fascination by the handwork, tailoring techniques and beauty of the craft, which she learnt at a very young age.
“My grandmother used to take me in search of the perfect fabric and accessory while my mother insisted in finding the right balance of elegance and grace. Together they influenced my lifelong love for beauty and gave me an appreciation for searching for the perfect style”
Berjheny’s second name is “Del Mar” which means from the ocean, because when she entered the ocean, that’s when her mother saw her smile for the first time. Berjheny has always been interested and involved in creative endeavors, design, and fashion. Her entrepreneurial spirit combined with her passion for art and beauty has always pushed her to view every challenge from a creative perspective. From developing brands, to designing interiors and running a business, she has always found ways to integrate fashion and style into her work.
After studying at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London and the Domus Academy-NABA in Milan, she moved to New York City to study at the Parsons School of Design. During her years at Parsons she interned both with the iconic designer Narciso Rodriguez and at The House of Gucci. In 2012 she established her namesake brand “BERJHENY Inc.”.
Berjheny finds inspiration in traveling, architecture, contemporary arts, and nature. These inspirations give her a deep appreciation for vintage pieces and organic shapes and allow her to bring graphic and architectural designs to life in her unique designs. By remaining true to her values of quality and luxury, Berjheny strives to develop original pieces that are edgy, elegant, and easy to wear. In short, she strives to create pieces that are a reflection of her lifestyle and vision of contemporary style
